The seventh step is embedding the change into the system. This is part of the “Maintaining Quality” domain in a Quality Management System.
Why
This step moves the change or new model into “business as usual”.
What
This step follows the plan developed in step six to integrate the new model into the wider system. This ensures it fits with the processes, systems, management and governance arrangements.
It also involves measuring the impact and value of the change. This is part of Maintaining Quality processes.
How
Examples of tools that support the embed step.
- Gantt charts and measurement plans described in step six.
- A communications and engagement plan are used to share the implementation plans with the team/organisation. They detail how and when this will take place. Head to HIS’s Community Engagement’s website to find out more about a communication and engagement plan.
- Team huddles are used to communicate with a team about managing quality and embedding a change. Head to Turas Learn to find out more about team huddles.
- An SBAR is a simple, structured communication tool to accurately transfer information. Head to Turas Learn to find out more about an SBAR.
