Summary
We carried out an announced inspection to Gartnavel Royal Hospital, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde on 18 January 2023.
During our inspection, we:
- inspected the ward and hospital environment
- observed staff practice and interactions with patients
- spoke with patients and ward staff
- accessed patients’ health records, and reviewed monitoring reports, policies and procedures
Our findings
This inspection resulted in four areas of good practice, four requirements and one recommendation.
“Despite significant staff shortages, we observed senior managers who demonstrated good knowledge and management of infection prevention and control practice. We found a good standard of cleaning in most areas. Areas for improvement have been identified to support effective cleaning and storage of clinical waste bins.”
