Summary
The Small wards tool is set up to enable nursing staff to record information to review workload and to calculate a recommended whole time equivalent (rWTE), using occupied beds and patient dependency.
The national recommendation is that this tool is run at least once per year, for two weeks, with ward occupancy data and average dependency for each patient.
