Summary
We are developing standards for healthcare and forensic medical services for people who have experienced rape, sexual assault or child sexual abuse. These standards will update and replace the 2017 standards of the same name. The standards cover:
- Collaborative leadership and governance
- Person-centred care and shared decision-making
- Staff training, education and support
- Responding to initial disclosure
- Needs assessment and service coordination
- Forensic medical examination
- Children and young people
- Documentation and data collection
As part of this process, we have launched a consultation to get stakeholder feedback on the standards. You can take part in this consultation through our online survey The consultation will close on 13 January 2025.
If you have any problems or questions, you can get in touch with us at his.standardsandindicators@nhs.scot.
Please share the standards and this web page with any stakeholder or person with lived experience that you think may be interested in giving feedback.
A summary of the responses to the consultation can be made available on request.
