As Director of Nursing and Systems Improvement you will play a significant part in delivering our strategy. This is a high-profile, national role. It requires you to focus on translating policies related to professional NMHAP (Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals) practice into tangible and sustained improvements.

It also requires an ability to design and lead practical improvements in the delivery of care which lead to better outcomes.

You will be a confident and credible professional, who can foster positive working relationships and partnerships with a range of external agencies and influence change.

The role of Director of Nursing and Systems Improvement

  • Location: Glasgow or Edinburgh base with hybrid working
  • Executive Level E (indicative)
  • Salary: £96,982 – £124,871

The postholder will be a vital member of our Executive Team, playing a key role in corporate governance, performance management, and the overall success of our organisation.

The director will provide professional leadership for Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals practice and ensure sound and up-to-date clinical advice is provided to our Board, Executive Team and wider organisation.

The post-holder will oversee public protection, complaints and, in conjunction with the Medical Director, our framework for clinical and care governance. They will provide executive leadership for improvement support in primary care, community health services, and executive leadership for maternal healthcare as key priority areas.

Additionally, the Director will oversee a robust approach to monitoring compliance with the Health and Care Staffing Act, ensuring tools remain up-to-date and relevant to clinical practice.
