Our previous inspection focus

Health and social care services for older people (2013-2017)

In 2013 we worked with The Care Inspectorate to carry out joint inspections of health and social care services provided for adults in Scotland.

We inspected health and social care partnerships to see how well they were integrating services and working with:

  • local councils
  • NHS boards
  • hospitals
  • third and independent service providers

We also evaluated how this improved outcomes for older adults in their area.

The inspections aimed to provide assurance that there is a high standard of care for older adults living in their own homes in the community.

We also wanted assurance that people were getting the right kind of care:

  • at the right time
  • in the right place

This in turn supports good health and quality of life outcomes for older people.

The effectiveness of strategic planning in health and social care partnerships for adult care services (2017-2019)

These inspections looked at how well partnerships commissioned and planned care in an integrated way to support and improve health and social care outcomes for all adults.

We also looked at how well leadership in the health and social care partnerships managed changes and used information to support and inform their planning and commissioning of services.

These reports provide information to support improvements in the services people receive. Organisations can use these reports to improve the health and care services they provide.
