Sudden unexpected death in infancy programme (SUDI)

A SUDI is a sudden unexpected death in infancy. A SUDI occurs when there is no known pre-existing condition which would make a death predictable.

Whilst rare, there are on average 25 cases per year in Scotland (based on data from 2015-2021).

Our work aims to ensure all SUDI cases receive a review. We also work to promote consistent practices and to improve services.
