The National Controlled Drugs Accountable Officers Network (CDAON) is a Scottish based community for Controlled Drugs Accountable Officers (CDAO). This network gives members an opportunity to ask questions, speak with other CDAOs, and to engage with:
- the Care Inspectorate
- the General Pharmaceutical Council
- NHS Counter Fraud Services
The safe management and use of Controlled Drugs is a key responsibility of this network. This is achieved through shared learning and collaboration.

The executive group
The executive group operates on behalf of CDAON (Scotland). This group:
- develops strategies for the safe use and management of controlled drugs
- engages with key stakeholders
- oversees workplans to ensure timely delivery of actions.
The working group
The working group is an operational delivery group. This group focuses on the development of policies and procedures for the CDAON.
