Summary
We carried out an unannounced inspection to the Western General Hospital, NHS Lothian on Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 August 2022 using our safe delivery of care inspection methodology.
During our inspection, we:
- inspected the ward and hospital environment
- observed staff practice and interactions with patients, such as during patient mealtimes
- spoke with patients, visitors and ward staff
- accessed patients’ health records, monitoring reports, policies and procedures
Our findings
This inspection resulted in nine areas of good practice, one recommendation and four requirements.
