World Patient Safety Day 2024
We are marking the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) annual World Patient Safety Day on 17 September 2024.
This year we’re looking at improving diagnosis for patient safety, to get it right and make it safe. It highlights the critical importance of correct and timely diagnosis. This will ensure patient safety and improving health outcomes.
World Patient Safety Day is an opportunity to raise awareness of patient safety. It can also increase support for improved patient safety from:
- patients
- health workers
- policymakers
- health care leaders
Our purpose is to drive the highest quality care for everyone in Scotland. Our vision is one where people can access safe, effective, person-centred care when needed.
We do this in various ways, including:
- the Scottish Patient Safety Programme
- our dementia guidelines
- our perinatal guidelines
- the Scottish Health Technologies Group
- the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network
- the Right Decision Service
- Early Intervention in Psychosis
These are a few of our contributions. They ensure people receive the best possible treatment when they need it.
